Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get started?
For specialized tutoring, use our easy online system to schedule a free consultation. One of our directors will go over your child's current and prior academic performances before providing you with recommendations for specialized tutoring programs.
Do you guarantee a test score or grade?
We do not guarantee test scores because every student is so different - from initial scores, learning styles, and personality to the amount of time and effort each student puts into the process. Generally, however, we see average ACT increases of 4-6 pts and average SAT increases of 200-300 pts when students complete their assigned work and attend their sessions regularly.
How much does it cost?
Specialized tutoring typically costs between $60-$70 per hour. Students work 1:1 with a dedicated teacher on the subject matter. For test prep, our learning center provides all materials including online practice accounts, if applicable. For school classes, students are asked to bring in their textbook and any assignments or tests.
What are the expectations of my student?
We expect students to attend their sessions consistently, be on time, bring in their materials/textbooks for every session, including quizzes and tests if applicable, and complete any assigned homework or practice tests. They should ask questions and take notes to make each session as effective as possible in order to get the best results from their program!
What is the background of the teachers?
Our specialized tutoring teachers have expertise in the field they are teaching. For example, our teachers for Math I and Math II typically hold undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in math. We assess our teachers for the subject areas they teach at our center. We also monitor your student's progress as they move through the program, making adjustments and providing updates.
Can we do a trial session?
Due to high demand and limited expert teacher availability, we do not offer trial sessions. Our specialized programs start at a minimum of 50 hr increments to new families (current families - reach out to us for more options!).
Does my student need tutoring?
The comments we often hear from parents in our center are "I wish we'd done this earlier" or "I wish I had gotten my child help when he/she was younger."
Many parents have the mistaken idea that educational tutoring is for tiger parents, kids who are failing all their classes, or "the rich." About 10% of our students might fall into these categories, but the other 90% are just ordinary Elk Grove families looking for extra support.
