In person coaching session available in Jan - Feb 2027 for registered students
What is Math Kangaroo?
Annual international math competition for grades 1-12 (March 18, 2027)
Best for students who enjoy logic-based problems and want to improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Fun, low-pressure individual competition (i.e. the math is in line with their grade level, but in the form of brain teasers)
The exam is a 75 minute multiple-choice test.
24 questions for students in grades 1-4
30 questions for students in grades 5 and higher

Notes for parents:
No need to stay, but you are welcome to wait in the lobby
Would be helpful if you can bring a group snack to share with the rest of the students
Sessions and materials are provided for free to bring the joy of math to our community!

What do I win?
Although the competition focuses on learning fun math, it is STILL a competition!
Prizes will be awarded to students with the top 20 scores in their grade (nationally) and top 3 scorers in their state.
In 2026, two of the Elk Grove students came in top 5 in the country. One went on to represent the US in the international competition held in Boao, China, and took home three grand prize trophies.

Schedule:
6:00pm: Arrival and sign-in (please be on time!)
6:15pm: Start of test
7:30pm: End of test, pick up
Parents can drop off their students or are welcome to stay and wait in our lobby.
